3.    BID Yuletide Project – Julie Bender encouraged residents to enjoy all of the holiday events scheduled in the BID, especially on December 4 th for a candlelight shopping experience. The BID website has complete holiday event information.

4.    Crime Activity Report – Commander Kris Kroncke handed out a 2008 crime report, described recent criminal activities in the BID, and noted that the overall crime statistics are lower this year as compared to 2007. He also reminded all residents to be vigilant and not to leave any identification, purses, laptops, or holiday packages in their cars. It is an open invitation for car break-ins. A CCNNA Crime Forum similar to the one conducted last year on crime prevention will be planned for 2009.

5.    Cherry Creek Post Office – Jerry Martinez, the Customer Service Manager for the Cherry Creek and Glendale post offices, gave a report on holiday packaging and mailing. Rates are going up for packages with costs determined by package size. The new Cherry Creek Post Office has a one year lease, but it is anticipated to be a long term service in CCN.

6.    Representative Lois Court – Rep. Court informed residents on her immediate goals for the upcoming legislature, which centered around the possible future use of Tabor tax funds when the economy improves and since Amendment 59 did not pass. The State Revenue forecast is lower due to the declining economy, and significant issues, such as road repairs, still need to be addressed. She asked residents to email her their ideas, needs, and suggestions on issues that she should be aware.

7.    1 st Bank Development Project – Paul Powers of Pauls Corporation and his architects presented plans for a ten story retail / office building on the current 1 st Bank and Burger King sites and a 7 story retail / residential building on the former Hops site. The 3D presentation enabled residents to view the building from many perspectives. Although there was a general feeling that the building design and location close to 1 st Avenue were acceptable, building height and traffic flow / mitigation were concerns that need attention. Paul Powers informed the group that a professional, independent traffic study would be conducted and the results shared with residents. A few residents expressed an interest in learning more about the Cherry Creek Neighborhood Plan.

8.    CCNNA Board of Director Elections – Existing Board members – Kathy Head, Trudy Barkley, Peter Cudlip, and Dan Dahlberg – were elected for new 3 year terms on the CCNNA Board of Directors.

9.    Resident Issues

  • Solicitations and Flyers – Mark Rossman informed residents on how to reduce and fight unsolicited flyers to their homes and offered to assist any resident in contacting businesses who are providing the flyers. These flyers may invite home break-ins when left at the front of homes. An email will be circulated to residents about the matter.

10.    Next Meeting – The next General Resident Meeting will on Tuesday, January 27 th at 7 PM at the Daniels Fund Building.
